For the femoral implant rotation, only Assor
et
al.
[3] analyzed the malpositioning on radio-
graphs and for the medial UKA. But he studied
the rotation in the frontal plane.
The femoral implant positioning is still a
demanding step of the UKA especially in the
lateral side because of the physiological femo-
ral valgus. Our work attempts to find a range
of values that we might use afterwards in the
navigation system as the “normal” values. It is
obvious we assumed most of the implants
were well positioned regarding to our previous
results [21] and the surgeon experience.
Our study presents the first 3D
in vivo
analysis
of UKA positioning for both compartments,
which remains a difficult surgical procedure.
With those preliminary results, we have tried
to define some threshold value for a proper
positioning in rotation of the UKA.
